About

Dr. Gerard Lynch is a postdoctoral researcher based at CeADAR in University College Dublin. He received his PhD in 2013 from Trinity College Dublin where he worked on text analytics applied to textual data in the humanities in conjunction with the CNGL research cluster. He has extensive expertise in natural language processing and text analytics and within CeADAR has expanded his skill-set to encompass network analytics and visualisation, working on projects related to sentiment analysis and people search on Twitter. He previously worked at the Irish Times newspaper, training and deploying a commercial system for named entity recognition of Irish named entities and the University of Bologna at Forli, where he developed a web-based system for translation alignment in concert with the School of Translation and Cultural Studies.
