Johnny Ryan
Dr Johnny Ryan prolific speaker and is Executive Director of The Innovation Academy at University College Dublin, which works with organisations and students to introduce innovation and Design Thinking.
Previously he was the Chief Innovation Officer of The Irish Times, where he established a multi-million euro R&D programme with Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland to bring big data into the newsroom. He also introduced startups to work inside the 154 year old newspaper to explore new advertising offerings.
His second book, A History of the Internet and the Digital Future', is on the reading list at Harvard, Stanford, and other top tier institutions.
His PhD at the University of Cambridge, where he was an O'Reilly Foundation Scholar at Magdalene College, examined how terrorist memes proliferate online.
He was an associate on the emerging digital environment at the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge from 2011-14.
His writing and ideas have appeared in Fortune, Business Week, Wired, NATO Review, Contagious, Ars Technica, and The Irish Times.
